Chiawa Pontoon - Kafue River
From Great North Road
A few photos taken when we were down on the Lower Zambezi (October 2001).
This is where you cross the Kafue River.
Chiawa Pontoon - taken from the pontoon looking upriver
Chiawa Pontoon - also taken from the pontoon looking upriver, but this was taken in August (2001) when I was down there.
Chiawa Pontoon - taken from the pontoon looking downriver towards the confluence with the Zambezi. Look at the cloud buildup - it has really only started in the last few days and now the humidity has started to build up in Lusaka as well.
And at least one of the signs are there for good rains - the weavers in our garden have built their nests right at the top of the trees - the higher their nests, the better the rains (or that is what we believe)
Chiawa Pontoon - the pontoon itself
Chiawa Pontoon - a sign written on the pontoon (which was donated by the European Union). It (the sign I mean) was not there when we went down on Saturday, but was there on Sunday - they had obviously had a heavy weekend with everyone telling them to hurry up
