It over looked a lake and I stayed in the room with the window you can see in the nearest turret for a couple of months, it was at the entrance to a valley I think was called Luambe.

It was close to the district that was called the Luanga Valley and I remember some one telling me that there was 48,000 elephants down the valley but I some how doubted that.

While I was there two gentlemen arrived from India they were Americans who were big shots for a firm building oil installations out there and had arrived for a two week safari with a gentleman called Shultze who was a well known big white hunter in those parts who lived in Fort Jamieson the closest town to Lundazi.

One of the Americans was a great drinker and consumed endless bottles of scotch, Shultze took them down the valley and lined up a large bull elephant for the plonkie to shoot and passed him the rifle he took careful aim and shot it in the foot, now they have an enraged elephant on there hands and it was only the cool head of Mr Shultze that saved them from a dangerous situation when he retrieved the rifle and with one heart shot brought it down.

They came back to the castle and spent there time giving it hell and eventually they had to get a doctor to the alchi and the last I remember was when they went out for a stroll and came back with a seasoned elephant turd and had it boxed and sent off to the States where he said he would display it on his mantle piece in the lounge, it must in those days have cost them a small fortune and all to show for it a ball of elephant Sh--t.
