Photograph Album - Ivan Lusic

From Great North Road

By Ivan Lusic.

A few photos, from my family album, that may be of historical interest.

The first is of my late father Vinko Lusic, who arrived in Africa in the late 1920's, and worked his way northwards to NR. He lived in the Single Quarters (Nkana, later moving to a house in 3rd Avenue, Nkana. This photo was probably taken a long time before I was born. Looks like Ek Park in the background of that photo, but I'm not sure.

He worked on the Rhokana mine on arrival there, but later worked as a monumental mason. The rest of the photos show some of his works. I would be interested to hear from GNR members who have seen these plaques. I believe that a couple were comissioned by the Livingstone Museum.

A scan of a bank draft, sent by my late father Vinko Lusic, to his brother in Europe.

The second is of a cigar case, which was presented to His Majesty, King George VI, upon the occasion of his visit to the Copperbelt. This item was made by my father in the Rhokana Mines workshop.

The third was a note to my late father from the Livingstone Museum.

The last two scans are; a) reference and b) record of service from Rhokana Mine.
