Site Updates and Events in 2000
This is a log of significant events and updates made to the GNR in 2000.
November 16th, 2000:
October 22nd, 2000:
- Added four events to the events page; two in South Africa and two in the UK.
September 19th, 2000:
- Added an event in South Africa to the events page.
September 11th, 2000:
- Added a News, Weather and Information page.
- Updated the information on the About this Site page to reflect the fact that more and more current residents of Zambia and Zambian expatriates who never lived in Northern Rhodesia are discovering this site. Thanks to Dave Cooper for the new wording.
- Added several new links to the links page.
- Disabled the posting facility on the old message board to minimise the chance of losing new visitors who discover the old message board, but never find the new one. Thanks to several people for pointing this out to me.
- I am aware that I am quite far behind in adding people to the Names Directory. I will catch-up when I can and I appreciate your patience.
August 28th, 2000:
- Updated the Contributing to this Site page. Please read this information before sending huge files to my usual e-mail address.
August 26th, 2000:
- Added 42 new images to all pages in the Memorabilia section. Have a look -- you might be in there.
August 7th, 2000:
July 28th, 2000:
- Added a page with instructions for using HTML in messages posted on the Message Board.
- Removed expired events from the events page.
July 10th, 2000:
July 2nd, 2000:
- Added a bunch of new links to and reformatted the links page.
- Added three events in Canada, South Africa and the UK to the events page.
May 10th, 2000:
April 20th, 2000:
- Added a greeting from Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to the members of the GNR.
- Added a page of Northern Rhodesia Police photographs from Greg Koll to the After Livingstone... section.
- Added a new "Stuff" section to the Memorabilia pages and added photographs.
- Changed the layout of the home page slightly.
April 16th, 2000:
- Added some new links to the links page.
- My new computer is here! I'm working on all pending site updates involving graphics as we speak.
April 3rd, 2000:
- Cleared the backlog of new and updated entries to the Names Directory.
- Added the April 9th protest in London and the April 15th St. Stephen's College reunion in Johannesburg to the events page.
- Added some new links to the links page.
- My new computer arrives next week and all pending site updates involving graphics will be done then. Dave Cooper is also working on a rather interesting surprise. Thanks to all of you for your patience over the last couple of months.

- Added protest in London to the events page.
February 24th, 2000:
- Added a review of The Welensky Papers to the history section of the Book Store. Great Epic Books is offering a 20% discount on signed copies of this book.
February 23rd, 2000:
- Updated the link to the flags Web site on the home page.
- Added Select Books to the list of book sellers in the Book Store and included a write-up about them.
- Added Dave Cooper's original posting announcing the birth of the GNR to the Northern Tales section.
- Added a write-up by Steve Stephenson about the askaris to the After Livingstone... section.
- Updated the Listserv page to reflect the fact that it is not working.
February 10th, 2000:
- Moved the old Message Board to a new directory.
- Started the new Message Board.
